Predicting impact of manufacturing process on composite performance with HyperMesh, KTex Family and RADIOSS

RADIOSS already offers many material laws dedicated to composite materials. On top of that, many representations are possible thanks to shell and solid elements. However, weaving patterns of the yarns in a ply are hardly taken into account, and predicting the behavior of these yarns (orientation change but also fibre volume fraction evolution) is a main concern. In this frame, KTex Family is a group of modules, fully integrated in HyperMesh, aiming at improving the composite experience within Altair software suite.

Engineers develop design and analysis skills through application of principles, methods, and tools to the solution of complex, often ill-defined problems. Automotive Modal Testing Support and CAE Correlation Using Altair HyperWorks

To derive the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a given structure, the test Engineer has to decide on excitation positions that will efficiently excite all the modes of the structure in the frequency range of interest. Excitation positions are usually decided upon from experience or trial and error methods which can be time consuming and still not capture all of the modes in the selected frequency range. Using Altair HyperStudy and Radioss (bulk), Pre-test CAE analysis has been carried out to identify effective excitation positions before the commencement of modal testing, thereby significantly reducing pre-test lab time.

Creating the perfect vehicle sound is a critical challenge that needs the buy-in of diverse decision-makers to establish targets, and greater inter-departmental collaboration to realize them. Free-driving sound simulation captures subjective sound references with real-time modification. It helps to cascade that target sound down to subsystem or component level, and provides a focal point where all relevant and available data (CAE or test-based) can be assessed for its impact on sound style. Patran to HyperMesh Conversion Self Paced Course

The purpose of this self paced course is to help Patran users in their conversion to HyperMesh. Included in the course are examples to help users get acquainted with HyperMesh and the way that it interacts with the models. Most sections will use the See It, Try It, Do It methodology to cover the concepts. See It allows you to watch a video demonstration of the new feature. Try It allows you to go through an interactive video which will guide you through using the new feature. Do It consists of a written exercise and model that can be opened in HyperMesh which allows you to perform the exercise on your own. Some sections will also contain interactive guides to provide a detailed description of the different options contained within a panel or browser. The sections can be completed in any order, or simply complete the ones that answer your questions.

HyperMesh and Custom Export Template Streamline CFD Analysis in Research Projects at Arizona State University

Integrative Simulations & Computational Fluids Lab researchers from SEMTE (School for Engineering of Matter Transport and Energy) at the Arizona State University (ASU) wanted to use the commercial code HyperMesh as a general preprocessor to mesh complex geometries for use with the spectral element CFD code Nek5000. The challenge was to benefit from the rich functionality of existing meshing tools such as HyperMesh while using the Nek5000 code, since this CFD code requires 3D hexahedral elements. SEMTE researchers set up a project to develop a converter tool with which a HyperMesh mesh could be exported into a format the Nek5000 code could work with. With this export template the overall process is now much more user-friendly and less error-prone. The mesh is generated in HyperMesh and the export template organizes all the data and sorts it so it can be imported in the proper formats into the Nek5000 user template.
